On November 19, the awards ceremony for the 6th edition of the Constantes y Vitales Awards was held at the Palacio de Neptuno in Madrid, aimed at recognizing projects in biomedical research and health prevention in 2020. The Spanish Association Against Cancer ( AECC) and Arena Madrid , have received the award for the Best Dissemination Campaign in Medical Prevention for “Call it Cancer. The reality behind the word.” Yolanda Domínguez, Marketing Manager of the AECC, has collected the award, highlighting the dedication of the entire team : “This award is a recognition of the work, the enthusiasm, the enthusiasm of a great team and allow me a very special thank you to the creative talent of our friends at Arena Madrid.”
Domínguez recalled the importance of a project like “Call it Cancer” because “calling it cancer is basically fighting against the silence, the fear, the shame that the word cancer still generates in our Phone Number List society, but also calling it cancer is "Give patients and those who suffer from this disease the opportunity to make it visible and reduce its negative impact." Call it Cancer. The reality behind the word At the beginning of 2020, the Spanish Association against Cancer (AECC) and Arena Madrid launched “Call it Cancer. The reality behind the word.” It is an initiative that seeks to uncover the different realities behind cancer so that we can begin to fight against the silence and fear that facing this word still causes today. In this sense, the initiative defends that talking about the emotional and social impact of cancer helps reduce the negative impact that it can cause in many people (isolation, the beginning of family and work conflicts or the development of serious self-esteem problems).
The challenge arose after several months of work in which the AECC traveled through different cities in Spain in a roadshow to meet and hear first-hand from all those who live with cancer . Patients, family members, doctors, researchers and psychologists have openly shared their reality so that society as a whole normalizes its relationship with it. Constant and Vital Awards The Constant and Vital Awards for Biomedical Research and Prevention in Health, promoted within the Corporate Responsibility movement of La Sexta together with the AXA Foundation, are a reference in the scientific community and are aimed at recognizing, highlighting, supporting and strengthening the research and prevention work of Spanish scientists in the field of health during 2020 , a particularly significant year, in which it has been reflected more than ever that their work is decisive.
